This bill was introduced with the purpose of supporting children’s emotional and behavioral development. The bill states that the Department should prohibit or severely restrict “the use of suspension and expulsion for use only as a last resort in extraordinary circumstances” and if those circumstances were to take place, that there be a follow-up with engagement steps and ongoing development for teachers, parents/guardians, and the child.
